Hmm... I feel like starting a semi-pointless thread.
Anyone have any good movie reccomendations? Y'know, "if you like MvA, you'll like..." kind of stuff?
I've got two:
Igor -- It's an indie CGI movie from about a year ago, and it treads some of the same ground as MvA (old monster movie parodies and whatnot), but leaning a lot more towards the Frankenstein bent. It's not as polished as MvA, and it kinda (read: totally) rips off Tim Burton's asthetic, but it's a pretty entertaining film. Especially if you love pastiches of old horror/sci-fi flicks. (Also, Steve Buschemi does the voice of a suicidal undead bunny. Which is exactly as hilarious as it sounds.)
The Lost Skeleton of Cadavera -- Another 'fifties riff movie, only fairly obscure and actually done for a shoestring budget in the grand old style of classic B-movies. It's a total "hit or miss" movie, depending on how much you like ironically horrible (to the point of hilarity) dialogue and acting and the intentional heaping on of every cliche in the book (aliens AND a mutant AND a supernatural force of evil AND an evil scientist), but if you like that sort of thing, you need to go find it. I originally found it at my rental place (which weirdly, has a bunch of niche, amazing movies from god-knows-where), but Amazon has it, too.
I'm kind of big on parodies and pastiches. Which is why MvA was so must-see for me. Anyone else have something to rec?
