Well I have done that and I just download the videos from youtube and put them in like I would pictures.

Yeah, just download a bunch of videos and import them to WMM (or whatever video editing program you have.) and put them on the timeline. :)

Yeah just download the movies like Aurum says, or if you want the faster way in my opinion, you can just take one of your DVD movies and put it on the computer to rip before you start any editing, but you need a special DVD ripper for that.
