Hi, I came up with this idea a while ago and decided to explore it. This is what I ended up with! 
Monster: Shadow
Gender: He's a shadow so he doesn't have one, but speaks in a male voice so is referred to as a "he."
Type/looks: A large shadow around the size of B.O.B. that is dark black in color and has two white eyes with black pupils. He can hide these eyes when needed and just appear black. Shadow has a deep voice with lots of volume for a being devoid of much substance. He can take a physical form and be touched or touch but usually avoids this because he prefers to remain alone and shuns contact. When in his physical form, he feels wispy like a spider's web and things can go right through him.
Personality: Shadow is very melancholy and sad. He doesn't really know why he's like that, he's just always been that way and so will always remain that way. He shuns contact from other beings unless necessary and prefers to be alone. He doesn't ever make an effort to get to know anyone and has no friends. He sometimes harps on how dark and gloomy he feels and often times wishes he did not exist.
Powers/strengths: Shadow doesn't have much substance but he can blot out light for long periods of time by expanding and covering it up. He also has the power to take shadow form of anything. By doing this he obtains that things physical characteristics and when physical can move and react like it would. For example, if Shadow took the form of a man, he would be able to grab things with hands. If he was a horse, he could kick with hooves. However, he cannot obtain that creatures power, such as if he became the shadow of The Missing Link or Ginormica, he would not have their super strength.
Weaknesses: Shadows are pretty much indestructible except for one thing, light. Light if used correctly can bore a hole straight through him, cause him to become immobile, cause him to disappear, make him smaller of larger, and confuse him by changing his direction. Though shadow would not exist without light, it is also his most hated enemy. Shadow is usually 2D, unless in his physical state, which makes it hard for him to interact with the world
Background: Not much is known about Shadow other than he was once a creature that was suddenly destroyed and transferred it's soul into it's shadow before it died. The transfer, unfortunately, erased all memory of what he used to be and Shadow began roaming the world in confusion, wrecking havoc and wondering just who he was and what he was destined for.

!!! AWESOME!!! But he might have trouble with Melia.... Because of her Silver and Golden feathers... She reflects light a little... XD
