I am really looking forward to this movie, but apparently they're assuming Princess and the Frog didn't do as well as they thought not because Disney's marketing team screwed up and put PatF a week before Avatar, oh no, it was all to do with the "Princess" in the title. So now, Disney's marketing team is at it again and genuinely thought they could hide Rapunzel behind a new title, "Tangled". Oddly enough, this was announced through the movie's Facebook. (Along with some weird synopsis worded in a way to sound like her love interest Errol Flynn is the main character.) Not much we can do about it. But perhaps a comment on the film's Facebook page arguing against the new title could help. :) Click here.I know, I know. Nobody's really 100% if this is the new title, seeing as it came from the movie's Facebook, rather than a formal announcement through the press. However, Disney did register several domain names a few weeks ago such as "Tangled-Movie.com" and "TheThiefandtheTower.com", obviously already bouncing around some ideas of what to rename Rapunzel. I mean, Disney films are remembered forever. Do you really want to risk some this movie 60 years from now to still be called Walt Disney's Tangled?

I don't know about that. I mean, everybody's going to know that it's still Rapunzel anyway, right? :O
But you shouldn't Be embarrassed. D: You know what I usually see? District 9, Zombieland, Watchmen, etc. And I didn't have any problem seeing The Princess and the Frog for my birthday movie with a bunch of friends who were both girls and guys. :)

From what I hear, she does actually leave the tower quite a bit early on and goes on an adventure with the guy while avoiding the witch.
But I don't know if that's the case. It's not any different from any other tale they've changed. The little mermaid was granted a soul after she commited suicide when she couldn't have the prince. ;)

Really, my personal opinion on the whole name-change is "meh." While Tangled may not initially sound like the best of choices, I'm warming up to the name- plus, there's no WAY a simple name-change could make me loose interest in the movie regardless. And to anyone complaining about how Disney is changing the original story of Rapunzel... four words: Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Yeah, I've been following this movie for five years. Not going to refuse to see the movie. Haha. I remember how happy I was that the tale was no longer Enchanted in reverse and that they would try for something more traditional. Since then, I've been waiting impatiently for more news on this film. ;)
I honestly still think the name is pretty ugly (Mostly because of that "ngl" in there. It just ain't a pretty sound. D:), and that I'm not going to enjoy that scratchy-voiced narrator saying "Walt Disney's Tangled" when the teaser comes attached to Alice in Wonderland this March. But it is still a lot better than "The Thief and the Tower", which I thought was fairly offensive in attampting to hide the fact that the main character is a girl. Named freakin' Rapunzel. ;)
What's interesting is that Europe ain't afraid of Rapunzel. Apparently, some countries there are going to call it "Princess Rapunzel". (As Disney's switched the royalty roles from the original story.)

Welp, looks like the advertising is trying to make it look like Flynn is the main character, even though Rapunzel most certainly is. Here's the rough trailer. Stinks that heroines might be takin' a step back here. D: But I still want to see it. Rapunzel looks so bubbly. She kind of reminds me of Susan. It's too bad she wasn't shown that much in the trailer. D:

Her hair is magic in this version. ;) Still wish there was more Rapunzel like there actually is in the real movie. Wonder how boys are going to react to realizing they are watching a film that stars a princess and also doesn't put as much emphasis on her love interest as the trailers would lead them to believe? When I'm tricked by a trailer like that, I usually end up hating the film. D: But the official teaser is giving me a little more hope. It doesn't even have a title, so that's a good sign at least to me that there's still some chance that they might change it back. :O

Funny I think be tricked is better than being spoiled IMO.XP maybe because I've been tricked by several trailers and spoiled,I find spoiled trailers to be pointing at my naiveness *COUGHUPSQUIRUALJOKEINTRAILERCOUGH* I still like the fact she gets out of the tower early and that she hits the guy with a frying pan instead of running and screaming like I expected. Anybody think of good titles that would fit Rapunzel with her name and the word princess?
