History: John Doe is a product of the ASTARTES program of the Interstellar Alliance, which was intended to produce supersoldiers for a future final war with the Shixulabulani, an omnicidal race of machines coming from the void between galaxies. In the last war with them, the Humans alone lost over 851 billion people, 92 million starships, 56 major moons and planets, and 8 solar systems. (The reason the solar systems and the major moons and planets were put separately was because their destruction was independent of each other.) As deadlier soldiers were needed if the Shixulabulani were to be wiped out, the humans quietly started PROJECT BLACK LANCE for this purpose.
Genetic samples were taken from the remains of the deadliest human soldiers and used as a source for the clones. John’s source was from Jack Terrence Patrick Kyle Weaver Sheridan Wilson Sinclair Ryan. As their bodies slowly developed, they were injected with cocktails of nanomachines, genetic therapy, and 'other' compounds which altered their bodies like a piece of machinery. More ASTARTES died because of their 'enhancements' than because of their training or actual combat. John belonged to a subgroup called SPECTRE, which attempted to plant the memories of their genetic source into their bodies so they could have a leg up on the other trainees. This failed in all cases...initially. They were all 'born' at the biological age of 18, before being put through a hellish training regime.
In the years leading into the final war he would be used to put down small brushfires throughout the alliance, which turned out to be manipulations by the Shixulabulani and increased in frequency as they drew near. During the war, it would take every iota of his skill to survive conditions that would have killed other soldiers, including other ASTARTES.
At the chronological age of 18, he was part of OPERATION RAGNAROK, the final assault on the Shixulabulani's artificial homeworld. The MEGAPRISE project of the Black Lance yielded the fruits of their labor, the Enterprise-class starship, the personal signature starship of each SPARTAN. He was one of twenty ASTARTES to volunteer to carry an Apocalypse-class multidimensional warhead through a rift to the planet itself. Four ships were destroyed, two malfunctioned and didn't detonate, but the rest were deployed successfully. As he was the last one to deploy his warhead, he didn't have the chance to pass through the rift before the shockwave hit him. He and his ship were thrown across time and space, crashing on Earth, just outside the town of Roswell in 1947. He was taken to Area 51, and provided the world with much of modern technology, as well as a bit more. The biggest examples are the secret bases used by the Extraterrestrial Combat Organization (X-COM) on the Moon, Mars, Venus, Io, Europa, Titan, Ganymede, and Pluto, which used NASA as a front for their activities.
Personality: He is a mite touchy about the fact that he is not human. Like all ASTARTES, he has a deep-seated fear of being alone; stemming from the time that he always had a cybernetic network shared with his ASTARTES brothers and sisters that he could call upon. When he was sent to the past, the realization that he couldn't contact others using his cybernetic implants made him catatonic for nearly a decade. He wonders how much of his behavior is truly his and how much is as a result of his training and implanted memories. He also tends to be very direct in his dealings with others, but picked up many subtleties over fifty years.
