Haha, for some reason, I always thought they were random words. Nice catch!
He did look French, but the British accent threw me off. Haha.

Holy cow, I never noticed! Great find Baycrum!
I totally would not have guessed that it was his name. I would've thought his real name would've been a parody of some sort (like it was Go-Go Spiders' Goin' Nowhere fanfiction).

I never noticed that before (even though I have the art book)... Jaques! Of course Dr. Cockroach would have the single most awesome French name ever. XDDDD
I'm so weirdly happy about this. O.o

It's possible he studied in England.

I came up with this whole fanwank in, like, a minute:
His father was an English soldier that was stationed in France in WWI, who met and married a French dancer and brought her back to the UK. Later, the Doc moved to the States after eventually losing tenure at all the respectable universaries in England. Which is how he got, like, eighty thousand degrees.
Of course, I have no proof. But it works out so neatly!

I declare thee: OFFICIAL FANON! ... seriously though? Can I take this as fanon? Pretty please?

Please do!
It was so weird... It all came to me in this flash and the dates made sense and... I was so happy!
I'd never considered his parents before, which is weird, because I've picked at everything else about his history.

Thank you.
I kinda wish I had a fic to put it in. Unfortunately, I don't have one running that it would fit into... Oh, well, it's up for grabs, no permission needed.
