I think I broke my magic idea goose after that gem of fanwank, because it took me days to figure this super obvious connection out.
Dr. Cockroach's heditary Frenchness + going to Paris = DUH.
Still don't have a fic suitable for it. Too busy with... uh... something... *shifty eyes*

Jaques? I would of prefer calling him Conrad better. I had this whole idea about writing my own fanfic about his past before finding out about his real name in the artbook. It came to me when I was roleplaying with Crazyrabidpony. If anyone wants to, I'll take the chances and use Mansion's little inspiring idea to prove it. (I couldn't figure out how I was gonna make his parents' first meeting work in my views, but yours can work.)

I would like to point out that the name thing is just mentioned in teeny-tiny print in the unused concept section, so it's not anything like real canon... But it was, at one point, the creator's intention. Make of that what you will.
Feel free to use my idea. I can't imagine I'd ever use it myself, which is why I put it up for adoption here.

Unused? Well it WAS very hard to notice when the printing was so small to read. I guess I could still keep my own name for him then. I was gonna keep it along with Jaques together in one but....I think that would been weird to show off the whole name. Jaques-Yves Conrad Howard? Yes I added a last name for him too XDD Bah! I'll say that he'll want to keep ONE name as his own nickname cause not everyone can pronnouce french names too well unless they roll it with their tongues. But it's not a lot that I was gonna make my fanfic on him focus on his past so much, I also thought about adding his own father in it too; ALIVE! It's a little bit strange to take it cause....we've talk about how the cockroach DNA stuff have made him young besides those abilities he gain as a monster. Ya think, by now in this century, half of his family would be dead lying in a graveyard stone.

I personally can pronounce French names, having some French blood in me. Anyway, I think Jaques-Yves suits him even though he's British. Many people call their kids names from other nations.

Jaques. Thats probably one of the most sexy French names to date. He did look French. And when you think about it, he does seem like a Jaques to me. Good eye!

I'm alone who don't like this name? I'm still doubting myself whether I like his name or not, so it's a 50 percent 50 I have on this.

I came up with this whole fanwank in, like, a minute: His father was an English soldier that was stationed in France in WWI, who met and married a French dancer and brought her back to the UK. Later, the Doc moved to the States after eventually losing tenure at all the respectable universaries in England. Which is how he got, like, eighty thousand degrees. Of course, I have no proof. But it works out so neatly! So perfect! Mansion, could I use this? I've been thinking about writing about the past of all the monsters. But like everyone at the same time, does that make sense? Say, I start writing how it was when Link was frozen and then we jump to when Doctor C.(Jacques) was a young lad in England, then with that, when they were doing plans on experimenting on that tomato that would eventually be B.O.B., then to how Insecto became big, we go back to Dr.C and how he has grown, and so on and so on...

Nice catch!
I must look at my copy of that book and see what it says there.
I don't know much about French names, but I do know that Yves is a french surname.
So perhaps his name is Jean Yves-Cockroach. Originally, it would have been Jean Yves. He probably changed his name to add the cockroach after he fused his DNA with said insect.
If we were to address him in english however, his name is John.
