Ah I've wanted to ask that question for a while now! Let me tell you guys what this movie means to me... To me, I can really relate to the monsters... not being accepted because you look and act a little different, and no matter what you do you always get treated like a monster. That really touched my heart. :') I can sooo relate to them, and that's why I love them so much. The other meaning to me is, of course, GIRL POWER! lol When I was younger, and even now, I'm not the girl that needed anyone's help. I love it that Susan is a strong character, and not the damsel in distress that movies have forced on us before. We need more strong girls like us in this world. But yeah... those are the deeper meanings of MvA to me... let me know what MvA means to YOU!

Kat....you've...just touched my sensitive (or however you say it) heart! *cry's tears of joy*. You've just explained my whole life! I've only been accepted to certain people because of me being different and doing things the crazy way and that's how I like it! I think it means to just accept you for the person you are because that's the greatest you can be. And, never underestimate anyone at something for they can accomplish it no matter what brings them down.

MvA means Monsters Vs Aliens XD Just kidding. I agree with girl power. Then There's the least expected turns to be the heroes.

To monsterfan: Haha It seems I'm not the only one like that! It feels good to know we can relate to them. MvA really did touch my heart... :3 Exactly! That's why you must accept yourself before others accept you. Because if you're not happy with yourself, who else would be? To baycrum: Yeah girl power! XD Not all heroes are men. We can be awesome as well! X3

MvA to me is finally a way to express myself freely and to a full extent!!!!
it even fulfills for me the Abraham Maslow's Human Need of Self Actualization!

MVA can mean a lot of things, but from what you said Kat, I agree with it all. I did realize that from the movie after you brought it up. And there's a saying too; you can't judge a book by it's cover. And beauty skin is only skin deep, it's what's inside that counts.

A writer praised Bartholme for "exploding cliches from the inside."
He did not, in my view. He leaves huge gobbets of unseemly cliche largely intact.
Monsters vs. Aliens frigging explodes cliches a la xenomorph baby from the Alien series, then atomizes them.
It's about subversion, inversion, aversion, and taking every genre staple from 50s drive-in movies to 80s screamsploitation and turning it inside out.
It's about a really awesome protagonist who EARNS her badassery rather than getting it with the Bland But Obnoxious Action Heroine hand-out package.
It's about changing the face of creature features...forever.

I love it that Susan is a strong character, and not the damsel in distress that movies have forced on us before. We need more strong girls like us in this world. The amazing thing about this movie is, Susan Murphy IS that damsel in distress. Ginormica is what that generic, one-dimensional love interest would become if allowed a chance to grow and self-actualize independent of the limiting role called for by circumstances and hackneyed writing.

I mean, she's not the standard action chick character. She's somebody who grew in her personality as well as size to fit the situation, an ordinary woman who lived up to extraordinary circumstances.

@twitter: Thank you, I'm glad to see some people agree with me! @fuzzy: Oooh yeah I gotcha... Yeah at the beginning of the movie I have to be honest, I wasn't a fan of her character. But you're right, she grew into it... literally... XD
