The other thread was questioning the idea of the series. Now we actually have one. The site is here: www.nick.com/shows/monstersvsaliensSo what do you guys think? Me: Animation:Really bad for Susan and other humans. Plot: More Interesting than I thought. The Monsters having to deal with aliens living with them? Now that's really weird. Characters: The new ones are the aliens. I wonder who they are voiced by? ALSO WHERE IS INSECTO? Big Questions: Why did Susan get small all the sudden? Where is Insecto? Where did the aliens come from?

Definitely looking more into what this series is. I must say that while I'm disappointed that Ginormica is no longer giant, I can understand that the crew might not want to constantly figure out how to get a fifty-foot woman into a shot with a much-smaller cast of characters. The same might double for Insectosaurus.
Susan definitely looks awful from the preview photos. Her TV show animation model looks like it's about to fall apart. The monsters look okay, though.
I'm curious who the enemies will be? Different aliens? Both monsters and aliens?

Goodness it's been a while since I posted here. Anyway, I rather enjoyed the premiere! It's got some obvious "this is still a pilot" weaknesses, what with the break-neck pace and all, and I felt like some of the personalities were a little bit off. Cockroach came off as a lot more reserved and dignified than he was in the movie canon, where he was prone to a lot more corny laughter and cheesy mad science, though you COULD possibly explain that away as him trying to look more like a stereotypical good guy in the presence of his superiors. Link sort of felt like he got shafted into a one-note arrogant show-off a bit, but to be fair he didn't really have time to show off much else of his personality, and Susan seemed a little perkier than normal, but not enough that it ruined her appeal. Other than that, though, it did a good job of giving each monster a time to shine and show-off their abilities. I have to admit I was kind of impressed with how they handled Susan's... Ginormica bits. When I heard that the showrunners had found a way to work around her size and realized they were going to give her shrinking-and-sizing powers I was more than a little wary. Susan's size was what made her a monster, and giving her the ability to control that just made her into a superhero instead. That said, the show handled it well, and given that I do love it when Susan is able to interact with her monster buddies at a normal size, I got used to it pretty quickly. Of course, it REALLY helps that the show isn't fanfiction and wasn't just taking away her size for shipping reasons. (speaking of which, o hai mild hint of susan x link interaction that i'm constituting as a ship hint) Though I honestly don't care much about that, as far as canon goes. ^^ I also have to give them props for their unique handling of Coverter- instead of going for a generic evil leader of a new band of alien invaders plot, they've instead chosen to set up a a running plotline of secret undercover bad-guy living amongst the good guys. I *really* wasn't expecting that, so I'm really looking forward to seeing how this progresses. And I do have faith that this series is going to progress. The showrunners have already proven to be among the best in the business with the way handled the Penguins of Madagascar, and the Monsters vs. Aliens universe allows them a lot more freedom of creativity than PoM ever could, and it looks like they're taking advantage of that. It's not perfect, of course, but I have no doubt that it's only going to get better from here.

Okay I've watched the episode a couple of times. Here's some general worries/faults I see. First the Voice cast. Link, Coverton and Monger are casted very well with some experienced VAs(Diedrich Bader, Jeff Bennett and Kevin Micheal Richardson). Bob was okay but I can't find his VA on wikipedia. Where the voice cast falls or goes bad is Susan and Dr.C. They are both voiced by people with zero voice acting experience. I guess people have to start somewhere.
Second, I agree with Nobility on the characterization. However I kinda wanna say that some of Dr.C and Susan's characterization may come from the voice actors. They may be trying so hard to sound like Reese and Hugh Laurie, that they perform things wrong. Link, I hope he doesn't just become a flat character, I don't know how to describe it exactly, I'm not one to explain his character, but he is definitely not just the show-off.
One of the things I fear right now is the characters always fighting in the desert or rock quarry. Kinda like the power rangers. I know it's much easier but I really hope we get to see them going through a city or other places. Another thing now is consistency. I think Area 5-something may have changed the setup where the monsters were, as in the Halloween special. I hope we get to see that room they were in again. I'm worried that they will all meet in the president's control room all the time and never get to see where the monsters stay. Again this could be because of budget or that this is just the pilot. Here's my big thing: Where is insecto? Did he just die or something? I want an explanation because he was a big part of Link's character. He showed Link's soft side and Insecto was a BIG part of the movie.

Insecto's disappearance has been the biggest question of them all since seeing the trailer of the show. Somehow, I think he was written off the show since I think it would be too much to have somebody big as 500 feet tall or so, it could be why Susan was finally able to control her Giormica size. Now why couldn't she had done that before in the movie?

Well, Doc explained why with his Technobabble why she could control her powers now. You know SCIENCE! I'm guessing that this maybe an AU series. So Insecto may never have existed.

I thought Insecto was 350 feet tall, the production picture I looked at cites the "thimble robot" as I call it 400 feet tall and Insecto as 350.
Does Susan get to keep her superstrength in her reduced size?
Also, I'm wondering about the clothing problem.
Galaxhar provided her with a jumpsuit that shrank and stretched as she changed size, but there's no indication earth technology has advanced that far.
Mind you, I am curious what they did with the jumpsuit, Susan could have turned it over to General Monger to study and reverse engineer.
So maybe they could use it as a basis for her new wardrobe.
Mind you, the only way I get to see these shows is via iTunes, since they're not keen on broadcasting them in my country.
The only dedicated Nick channel is cable and I don't have that.
So, it might take me a while to get around to seeing them, depending on when iTunes Australia puts them out.

Wait what thimble robot are you talking about?
I think that they probably got Dr.C to make her a suit based on the space one.

The thimble robot is what I call Galaxhar's drone, since it resembles a thimble in shape.
It's the one that gets beheaded when the arch of the Golden Gate bridge falls on it.

Hey y'all. Been a while since I've messaged. Still an MvA fan. When (in March) I heard the series was going to be specially shown after the Kids Choice Awards, I waited for the day. I couldn't help it, it's the MvA fan in me. After seeing it, it seemed alright, but I felt it could have been done better. The Monster crew are just how they should be and these new alien characters: Coverton, I don't trust him but he does provide good comic relief. If he's planning an invasion, he's in way over his oversized head. I just saw the episode with the newest addition: Sqweep. I think I like her, especially since she's so smart. Still, my heart will always belong to the movie, B.O.Bs Big Break and Mutant Pumpkins from Outer Space.

I wish the show was more action based like the TMNT show but I'm good for anything MvA. I remember seeing an interview where they considered making it an action show but decided against it for an unknown reason.
