Computer: Whatever you say, LORD Gallaxhar...
Gallaxhar: That's right, baby... I've got twenty credits with you name on them...
(I'm sorry. But, hey, it's already broken...)

Sweet. A score of cookies. SCORE!
So, random transfer of knowledge from the FFN boards: The song that Dr. C dances to to disable the computer's security system is "Roses Are Red" by Aqua. Which is a thinly, THINLY veiled song about sex. One really has to wonder what she was doing, downloading innouendo-filled earth music. XDD
(And yes, that will one day find its way into one of my G/C fics. I vow on the smoking rubble of Gallaxhar's homeworld, IT SHALL BE SO!)

I know. (About the homage.) I mean, it's obvious, really, the way her voice is SOOO breathy and overblown. This is because computers are programmed by lonely men. And scifi? Populated by fandoms of more of the same. Isn't that a bit of a gross stereotype? >.o I'd like to think that there's a fair bit of gender equality in the programming area, and we've moved past the age when computer-savvyness was soley the domain of lone recluses. Cripes, you're typing on a message board that was created by a fairly gregarious female, the opposite of the charicature you supported. Likewise, despite what you say about the "scifi fandom", you admitted to being highly familiar with the science fiction trope of breathy feminine computer voices, though you are yourself a female. The whole movie Monsters vs. Aliens is a soft scifi film made out of classic scifi allusions, and this fan-board is populated largely by women. Don't you think those statements about fandoms and gender are a bit sexist and inaccurate?

What was she doing downloading songs like that, indeed. XD I wonder what else that computer does that we (or Gallaxhar) don't know... what a naughty computer!

It was a loose statement, and no, not my best. I apologize if you found it offense. It's a case of sarcasm falling flat and badly in text form.
It was really more of statement on cliches themselves rather than enforcing them. That sci-fi gets a lot of unnessacary fanservice to pander towards their demographic of 18-35 males. Which isn't to say I think it's true, but the "sexy computer" thing is one of the many sci-fi jibes in the film and it's an overblown cliche in and of itself. I was attempting to make fun of the logic behind it, and I ended up sounding... well, like an ass.
I'm aware that programming is equal-oppurtunity, and I know full well that most active fandoms are female-heavy, especially in terms of fanfiction and cartoon fandoms.
So... Sorry.

I kind of felt bad about it all day, to be honest. It was like I'd been sent to the virtual HR department and was like... "Am I a horrible person?" I haven't been this bummed by something online since someone Housed one of my fanfics.

Oh, I'm sorry. I really didn't intend to make you feel that bad. What does it mean to "House" a fanfic?

Some Reason this pairing reminds me Of Plankton and his Computer wife(Spongebob).Anybody but me see that?

Yes, somebody else has noticed that. =o What about Plankton from Spongebob Squarepants? He has a computer wife and they get along as spouses just fine.

fuzzy -- Housing a fanfic is doing an MST on it... Basically, interweaving a snarky commentary that picks it apart and mocks it with the source material. The term is from the site, House of Bad Fanfiction. (It's one of those "it's funny 'til it happens to you" sort of things...)
Anywho... Yeah, Gallaxhar/Computer is the Karen/Plankton of MvA. ^__^ That's why I've taken to calling the voice so excellently provided by Amy Phoeler his computer wife.
...Yeesh, I need to get out more. Or something.

Part of that statement was caused by the mere fact that I know Plankton's computer wife's name right off the bat, no hesitation. Darn cartoons, sucking up hours of my life with their shiny colors and distracting motion...

I'm a fan of Spongebob as well. No shame in it. Cartoons are so bright and colorful just like lava lamps.
