Yes, he did die, but to a robot, that sometimes doesn't mean anything.
It's a story theme I've seen a few times where a robot was given specific orders prior to their owner/creator's demise and follows out those orders with no regard to the fact that the person who gave the instructions is now dead.
Usually because the robot doesn't know or there's no programming contingency to cover what to do in the event of death of the ordergiver.
Of course, this can lead to a very specific problem if the robot in question actually completes it's mission and then tries to locate the ordergiver.
Usually the logic loop fail causes them to shut down or to keep searching futilely for the ordergiver on the assumption they are still around.
But if the robot has the ability to adapt, it might very well change it's plans and go from minion to evil boss.

Cool. First of all, your papa is dead, he was killed by some monsters. You must seek revenge by destroying all of Earth, first to go (of course) with America, I suggest starting with the Statue of Liberty (unusual and epic). Of course after that, I suggest you pay a visit to Modesto and destroy it throughout. Don't ask why, just do it. After that, you will probably drag to your position the monsters who are guilty of your pappy's death. Just attack them. May the claw be with you, my robotic friend. |

Or be smart and not attack Modesto.  Start as far away from Susan's home town as you can, otherwise she'll come running! Also, avoid national monuments, Susan has a habit of using them as deadly weapons. You don't want her to start hitting you with part of the Statue of Liberty. Assuming you get close that is, I doubt Team Monster will allow another national monument to get broken. But that probably has more to do with the President not wanting his popularity rating to take another hit.......  |

I never really was the kind of the strategy guy. All I remember is, no matter what you do (forget Cockroach, Link and Bob, they're newbies), if you mess with Susan you will get powned. Trust me, I have some really good experience in it. |

Due to the fact insectosaurus is 4x high as her. I'm about 2 insectosaurus' high. |

And I remember what Susan did to the last Scorpion Robot Probe, she drop kicked it on it's back, then pulled the legs off one by one!
Size doesn't always count.
And in addition to Team Monster, she's now got Swqeep, Sta'abi and Vornicarn on her side as well.
If she was formidable with 3 sidekicks, imagine what she can do with 6!
